- Discovering Paco Sebastian´s workshop
The Fine Arts 2.0 students enjoyed the opportunity to visit Paco Sebastian´s workshop. An activity organized as back-up to the Visual Technology subject, taught by Solimán López at ESAT.
Paco Sebastian Nicolau is a plastic artist and, at the same time, a very famous graphic designer owning his own workshop.
About his work:
His drawings, paintings and sculptures may find shelter in the territory of realistic figuration, though it does not fully fit within this particular framework. He has always aspired to go beyond the borders of the restricted trends. From a naturalist vision of landscapes in the late 80s until the evolution towards the current formal synthesis, the artist has been focusing on the connection between atmospheric scenery and the architectonic element, urban and industrial. At the same time, he tries to deal with sculpture and then, return to painting with an organizational vision of the work, in which analogies between reality-fiction are established, as displayed in his last cardboard drawings representing constructivist figures, showing off games between tangible and represented, or between reality-abstraction by means of large canvases and drawings of folded oilcloths which seem to sustain themselves with the power of a physical fact, on which the present interacts with geometrical drawings labored with laces and threads which create fictitious shadows over them, in a language amongst abstraction-figuration-constructivist.
