Conference by Cristina Durán, @ ESAT
On Saturday February 7th at 11:00h, Miguel Silva Aulario, Cristina Durán will be giving a master class on Perspective entitled “A different way to see and draw the perspective.”
Cristina Durán (Valencia, 1970) and Miguel A. Giner Bou (Benetússer, 1969) are both graduated at Fine Arts University of Valencia, specializing in drawing. They were entitled to different scholarships; Cristina enjoyed an Erasmus grant allowing to finishing her degree studies at Middlesex University of London. On the other hand, Miguel A. Giner completed the last two years by enjoying a collaboration grant through the subject on Spatial Representation Systems.
Along with Robin and Alberto Botella, they created the fanzine “No Aparcar Llamo GRUA” Do not park, your car can be clamped. The four partners set up EL EQUIPO GRUA, producing five editions of the fanzine. During that epoch, Cristina won several awards as comic amateur drawer: Nominee at Injuve Contest 98, Awarded Best Drawer at Murcia JOVEN 98, National Award Alaquás, Villa de Rentería Award and Jóvenes y Empleo Award, Quart de Poblet.
After finishing their university studies, they worked during some years at an animation company. Cristina as inbetweener and Miguel A. Giner working in the pre-production department (lay out and storyboards). At the same time, along with their fanzine friends launched a new project: LaGRUAestudio. They have been working focusing on illustration, publishing and publicity, comic and animation. Among their clients, we shall mention: L’Oceanogràfic, Intermon Oxfam, Air Nostrum, Terra Mítica, AVACU, Generalitat Valenciana, etc and various publishers such as: Santillana, Voramar, Anaya, Barcanova, Pearson, Castellnou, Bromera, Tàndem, Planeta, Vicens Vives… etc
In 1997, they played an important role in reviving the Association of Professional Illustrators Valencia (APIV), being part of the Board Committee since its founding. Miguel Ángel Giner has been president of the association since October 2019. Cristina was also president, between 2006 and 2009. Furthermore, Cristina was member of Professional Illustrators Federation (FADIP) and EIF Board (European Illustrators Forum).
